GUILTY of neglecting to blog.

THIS IS ME, LAUGHING AND ON THE ROAD TO ARTISTIC FREEDOM AND THE WILDERNESS OF UNPOPULARITY.

Making time, making time, making time to do the things that are that tiny bit difficult, that take a bit of concentration and effort? Well, guilty of that too. In fact as I am writing this I am simultaneously doing the weird singing exercises that I SHOULD be compelled to complete daily. I have gigs coming up. It is quite hard to type and sing ‘gug, gug, gug, gug, gug, gug, goooog. Mum, mum, mom, mom, mom….’.

As a (singing) photographer starting up their own business I know that I should be spending as much time honing my craft as pushing my…..erm….talent on social media.

I’ve been fairly photographically busy all spring. That is busy also indulging in my Instagram-holic behaviour which has done NOTHING for my artistic ego (except destroy it). Do you know the one thing that has struck me most? It is this - stop comparing myself to other photographers and carry on following my own road. It is the only way forward. If people happen to like my style, all the better.

The other thing that I have noticed this Spring is that I am not very good at photographing anything that I have been told to photograph. That must make me a REBEL. So back to following my own road (to artistic ruin and wilderness)……and all apologies to the people who had ideas in mind that weren’t my own and that I didn’t execute.

Below are some of my own ideas - Fran Originals, I call them. Even the styled ones - I was allowed to just get on with photographing. Lovely.

Here’s to all of us following our own path (and searching Google to help us with wise words) :

“The principles of true art is not to portray, but to evoke”

That will become my line and I will stick to it! Jerzy Kosinski said it and he knew a thing or two. It didn’t end well for him though.

Over & out,

Fran
