the return of the swallows

Each year the swallows (and larks and martins) return to the village. They make their nests under the arches and right in front of my office. I watch them all throughout the summer. They are the most elegant birds and incredibly fast.

ordinary days make extraordinary memories

Saturday - first day of the holidays and we're up and out for a dog walk in the local forest EXCEPT the hunters are out and it is foggy. Do we really want to be targets for La Chasse? Back to the village for us and a walk in the lower fields. Thanks to Sean for the car footage.

'What are you eating, Gabe?' 'I dunno. Yummy stuff?' It is funny how names for things are acquired within families. Gabe has no idea that we call these pretzels. His older brother called them 'yummy stuff' and it stuck. This is documentary family filming as I see it. No direction, no editing other than in bnw and cutting in and out of clips. No editing of sound. These were the sounds we were making this afternoon during half an hour.

During the first meeting with P & J I took some footage and photos which they can use to decide where to hold their ceremony at a venue that spoils them for choice.
