New Year New

Happy 2021?

We race into this new year with hope and optimism but for some of us the hangover of having had a bit more free movement towards the end of 2020 has followed us across in the form of a new strain of Covid. The UK, for example, has gone back into full lockdown yet……..yet coming to the rescue and in a race against time is a vaccination - an HUGE feat of work & brilliance by scientists across the globe. An unusual hero especially for us trypanophobes (I’ve made that word up) but one which will not only save lives but will bring back the ability to do what us humans do - be with other people.

Meanwhile, in the United States the Statue of Liberty shuddered and then wept as non democratic countries pointed mockingly.

Elon Musk becomes the world’s richest person

In Denmark there is a new children’s show aimed at ages 4-8 about a man with a rather large appendage which he uses as a dog leash.

Closer to home my 2TB external hard drive gave up as did my mobile and a vacuum cleaner. I was most sorry about the vacuum cleaner especially as the same day my husband snapped my broom.

As I had to buy a new (budget price) phone I spent hours looking at YouTube and am now an expert so come to me if you want some advice about which phone to choose for 2021.

In France the vaccine ne roulez pas peut-etrê it is caught up in a bureaucratic tangle (I suspect this). Only around 45,000 people have so far been vaccinated despite France having received 1 million vaccines. I’ve no doubt that somewhere in Paris people are protesting about the slow ‘roll out’ . Sadly, and nothing having been learned from police actions across the Pond, there are a small group of people protesting in Paris - about the death of a 42 year old black delivery driver who died during an encounter with police.

Oh, the UK left Europe. Brexit came and went. Rather quietly.

Welcome to 2021!

’HANG ON’

‘Where are the images? You’re a photographer, Fran ‘

You are quite right to ask but as I have taken exactly NO photos using my camera since Christmas day here are a couple from my brand new budget phone marking out with the old year and in with the new.

Image 1 - from the field at the bottom of the village. I crouched, resting on my heels which you should not do in a muddy field

Image 2 - capturing that rarity in January - a blue sky

Image 3 - putting away the Christmas decorations

Image 4 - my radiator

Image 5 - a reluctant January dawn
