le touquet - pre mariage
S & J decided to take a road trip down to the SW of France to visit their wedding venue Chateau de Puissentut in the Gers now that travel is permitted. This was great as it meant that they could stop and call in on me whilst I was up in the north of France and I would not miss out on this opportunity to meet them.
Gangsters & flappers
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
new starts Property photography & Marketing company
Property or real estate is something that I could not help to be interested in having a father like mine. Always on the lookout for potential in a house and due to necessity from a growing family (and did our family grow - I have 6 brothers and one sister) we moved A LOT.
planning at The Castelnau
Driving the 20 minutes or so through narrow and winding country roads, climbing up and rolling down hills, wary of oncoming tractors my foot hovers close to the brake, the sky starts to darken and rain begins to softly fall.
New Year New
Happy 2021?
We race into this new year with hope and optimism but for some of us the hangover of having had a bit more free movement towards the end of 2020 has followed us across in the form of a new strain of Covid. The UK, for example, has gone back into full lockdown yet……..yet coming to the rescue and in a race against time is a vaccination
Chateau de Puissentut
The chateau and grounds are just charming. Most of the work within the extensive garden, interiors & exteriors is taken on by Angela & D.K. They know every single inch and work hard to make sure that your event not only looks good but will run smoothly.
dreams of a chateau wedding
An ancient gate sits pushed open against a high stone pillar. The old entrance brings you past the gatehouse into the park. It is November. Giant and dry leaves from mature plane trees swirl in low, small circles yet the overall impression is of green - not of a garden about to sleep over winter.
warm feet = happy feet
So when The Cambridge Sock Company asked me to photograph some of their socks I put my best sock clad foot forward. Having had a pair of their super duper thick amazing 70 percent mohair pink socks for a couple of years I would definitely feel confident in promoting the brand.
lockdown II and some whipped cream
16 years married on this unseasonably warm day and first day of full lockdown no. II in France………oh and it is my birthday.
But
a bottle of champagne and some whipped cream later
in the kitchen
………………….with the kids (what were you thinking?)
portrait of an artist
I’ve long admired the artwork of this elegant woman and artist, Swan Scalabre. At her most recent exposition in Lectoure, Gers there were several series of oil paintings mounted within wooden frames. Small in size but incredibly detailed they create the impression of an artist’s progression; a changing mood from light to sombre but each series hints to me, nostalgia.
i’m obsessed with filming trees
I think that moving trees, leaf filled branches dancing in light and wind should be in every video. That said I also think trees should be in every photo. Not very practical but another of my creative fran-tastic ideas.
samedi - family documentary film
After a few months break I realised the gold that is having the family documentary films of my own family. Having recently revisited the Covid series of films that started me off I was stunned by how much the kids had changed within a matter of months.
Baptême
Gabe makes the decision to be baptized.
Witnessed by his cousins and a family friend but with the absence of his extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles strongly felt , this artistic, dreamer of a child lowered his head over a copper bowl as Pére Charles performed the ancient watery rite.
An English garden Wedding in Gascony
La Romieu - one of the most charming villages in Gascony, faded powder blue shutters, rambling climbing plants, grey and warm coloured stone, with the 14th century Collégiale Saint Pierre stone cloister & towers attracting tourists and locals all throughout the year also boasts a garden of 6 hectares created by a well known botanist in 1975.
